Regular Lateral Flow Testing for asymptomatic pupils

You may know that staff within the school are testing twice a week using Lateral Flow Devices. This means that we are able to identify any asymptomatic cases and ensures another level of safety.

The government has announced that Lateral Flow Tests will be made available to families and pupils as schools reopen via community testing. We highly encourage that families do use Lateral Flow Testing so we can work collectively to keep our community safe. Please note that this is weekly testing for people with no COVID symptoms.

You can get tested weekly at a community testing site and can find the closest ones here:

You can collect 2 packs of home test kits at a local collection point. Each pack contains 7 tests:

or you can order kits for free to be sent to your home here:

Testing for pupils showing symptoms

Of course, if you or your child develops one or more of the following symptoms then you should get tested immediately by ordering a PCR test.

  • a new continuous cough
  •  a high temperature
  • a loss of, or change in, their normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

it is very important that you do not send them to school. If your child develops one or more of these symptoms in school they will then be sent home and advised to follow the guidance for households with possible coronavirus infection

If your child has one or more of the above symptoms, you should:

  • Request a coronavirus test immediately. Order a test. or order by telephone via NHS 119
  • Everyone living in the same household/ support bubble, including adults and other children, should self-isolate for 10 days
  • Keep the school informed about symptoms, self-isolation and test results.

It is essential that you book a coronavirus test for your child and provide us with the result once you have this so that your child can return to school promptly.
