Maths Week 2018
This week Rockliffe Manor celebrated our ever popular annual 'Maths Week'. Many exciting activities were organised for children, parents and staff to participate in and enjoy, linking to many different aspects of the maths curriculum. Some events took place throughout the whole week such as class maths challenges, while some events took place on specific days. Tuesday was our 'Parent Maths Morning' where we invited parents into classrooms to join their children for a maths problem solving lesson led by class teachers. On Wednesday we held the finals of our annual Maths Bee, where the three qualifiers from each class competed against each other to find the overall winners. We would like to extend our congratulations to all of our finalists! Towards the end of the week the children worked both in groups and as a class to take part in real life problem solving activities such as adding up money, costing and designing their own zoo and arranging a holiday to Australia on a budget. To finish off the week each class took part in a 3D shape construction challenge. The challenge was to build the tallest 3D tower using only drinking straws and marshmallows, the overall winner was Year 1 who built a very tall and impressive tower - well done!
